B1G Power Rankings – Nov. 13, 2023

1. Wisconsin

The Badgers were idle this past weekend, but their start to the season is still enough to keep them in top spot. The pollsters seem to agree as Wisconsin is now the unanimous #1 in the current rankings.

2. Michigan State

The Green and White were essentially tied for the second spot last week so it only makes sense that they take sole possession of #2 this week after a convincing win and shoot-out loss against Penn State.

3. Minnesota

Goldy and the Gophers went into Ann Arbor and came away with a win and a shoot-out loss against Michigan which shows they seem to have straightened themselves out after a sluggish, inconsistent start to the season.

4. Michigan

As noted above, the Wolverines were only able to scrape together a shootout win over Minnesota on home ice this past weekend. Despite that, they’re capable of catching fire at any time, but are still waiting on a spark.

5. Notre Dame

The Irish climb one spot this week after two dominating wins against Ohio State. They haven’t truly been tested in the Big Ten yet, so until they can prove themselves against high-level competition, they’ll remain in the bottom half.

6. Penn State

Penn State falls a few spots this week after only mustering a shootout win against the Spartans. Their spot in the rankings, though, is less about what they lack and more what others have. With a strong performance this week, they could easily jump to #3 or #4.

7. Ohio State

Yikes. Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, the Buckeyes only muster one goal in 120 minutes of hockey in their series against Notre Dame. Ohio State will need to figure this out quick because the gap between #1-#6 and #7 seems to be growing exponentially.
